April 2013

April started off with a bang attending our first Alpaca show, the California Classic in Pleasanton, Ca. Hailey and I had a great time and would like to thank all of our friends for all their help and support. Particularly, Sabina Pokorney of Autumn Days Alpacas, Donnie Karr of Tumblin Farms Alpacas and Karen Kelley of Arapaho Rose Alpacas, who made sure my animals ended up in the class when I didn't get there in time! We were ecstatic when Silver Legacy won a First place in his class and was Color Champion in a very competitive class. Our up and coming true black herd sire "Outlaw's Titan" also won a First Place in his class and was also Color Champion!!!
Our new girl "LV Harlequin by Vantaggio" took second in her class of grey Juvenile females as well. This little girl drew a lot of attention at the show with her unique coloring and beautiful face. She is so sweet and will give you kisses. The addition of this little girl, when she is done showing, is going to give our breeding program a huge boost. Thank you Steve and Lin Murray for allowing us to acquire this very special little girl.
The combination of two First place ribbons, a Second place ribbon and two Color Champion banners out of three animals being shown won us the Silver Cup in the Waterford Group! We could not be more proud of animals.
It was great visiting with all our friends and we made several new friends as well.
Now, back to ranch business... We have one more girl that is joining our foundation herd. "LV Cinnimon Twist" who is a light brown Skywalker daughter from Lassen View Alpacas, out of Black Eyed Susan, the dam of Vantaggio Di Bisturi. We couldn't wait for show season and decided instead to get her bred. She is confirmed bred to LV Sentinel for a 2014 cria.
With Suzi and Song confirmed to Royal Peruvian Black Forest, Galena, Lola, Chiara and Rhapture confirmed to Neversummers US Steel, and Twist confirmed to Sentinel it is time to sit back and reflect on our accomplishments for the year and wait for the new crop of crias to arrive.
What's next? Shearing day set for May 17th, planning and consideration for next years breeding which will include breedings to our true black sire "Outlaw's Titan", and Gold Country show!
